American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

This course is for those interested in becoming a certified lifeguard. Upon completion, participants will receive CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, First Aid and Lifeguard Certification. Participants must pass a swim test on the first day of class to continue with the course. Half the fee will be refunded if the swim test is not passed. Must be at least 15 years old, and the class must have 4 participants to be held.

American Red Cross Lifeguard RE-Certification Course

This course is for lifeguards renewing certifications. A swim test is required the first night of class and participants must be 15 years old. This is an American Red Cross class taught by YMCA personnel. Must attend all classes to pass the course. Must register by May 9.

This free, 16-week physical activity and well-being program is designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their health goals. New sessions begin January 14 and 29. Join us Sunday, June 9 at the Jefferson City Triathlon . . . The Great Escape at Ellis Porter Riverside Pool in Jefferson City. This event takes athletes from the snake swim in the 4 lane 50 meter pool at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park, to a 12-mile bike on city and rural roads from the pool to the outskirts of the new Missouri State Prison and back to the pool. The run is from the pool to the old historic Missouri State Penitentiary and back to the pool

This event is co-sponsored by the Jefferson City Area YMCA, Jefferson City Parks and Recreation and Jefferson City Outdoors. Anyone 15 years and older can participate.

COST by May 20:

  • Sprint Triathlon (Swim, Bike, Run)$60
  • Duathlon (Bike, Run)$60
  • Team Relay (A 2 or 3 member team completes 1 or more of Sprint Triathlon courses)$70

COST after May 20:

  • 400 Meter Pool Swim
  • 12 Mile Bike Ride

Age Divisions (based on your age as of 12/31/2019):

  • 35-44
  • 45-54
  • 55-64
  • 65 and over

Awards -Event awards will be presented to the overall male and female finisher and the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Awards for Duathlon and Relay Team will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
