SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Jefferson City is providing FREE skin cancer screenings. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. In fact, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. According to the American Cancer Society, about 97,610 new melanomas will be diagnosed this year. In addition, 5% of melanoma cases involve the palms and soles, which is the predominant source of melanoma cases for those of darker skin.
Periodic skin exams are the key to diagnosing skin cancer at its earliest stage, when it is most easily cured. Appointments are suggested, walk-ins welcome! Screenings will be with Dr. Christopher Paynter and KCU Medical Students.
